Available in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB capacities, these drives are equipped with a powerful and silent cooling system, a USB 2.0/1.1 interface and support for multiple operating systems including Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Mac OS. Sony Vaio w series laptop is the latest laptop for better processing. This is the new version laptop. It provides windows 7 processing. It looks like pretty. Sony is the popular name in the industry.

Even better, the Vaio Eco VPC-W212AX doesn’t even come packaged in a box: it comes inside the shrink-wrapped laptop case itself, which is a somewhat brilliant decision. Doing away with box packaging and offering a free case in one fell swoop is a move we’d love to see manufacturers of all portable gadgets adopt.

And, to Sony’s credit, the Eco Series Vaio W isn’t any more expensive than its existing W line, and looks awfully attractive with its nearly iridescent finish. From an ecological standpoint, the W Eco Series is a thumbs-up.

From a Netbook standpoint, the Vaio W is still an expensive Atom ultraportable. Starting at $480, the Vaio Eco VPC-W212AX does come with a new Atom N450 processor and a 250GB hard drive, but so do many new Netbooks, and often at cheaper prices, although this Eco Series edition with its increased specs does come in at $20 less than the original Vaio W we reviewed. This Vaio W does have a higher-res 10.1-inch screen than many other competitors, but you’ll have to decide for yourself whether a premium-priced Netbook is for you, ecological considerations notwithstanding. Regardless, this is a direction we’d like to see all laptops take in the future.

The Vaio Eco VPC-W212AX does have Bluetooth 2.1 and 802.11n Wi-Fi, connectivity–features not seen on lower-priced Netbooks and also adds a 250GB hard drive instead of the previous version’s 160GB, a welcome upgrade–although the amount of RAM still remains a paltry 1GB. The included OS is Windows 7 Starter, not Home Premium. While Starter can do most of what you’d require for basic computing, its level of customisation and flexibility is limited compared to full-blown Windows 7.

Good points – the use of recycled materials doesn’t affect cost or attractiveness of the Vaio W.

With a chassis made from recycled materials, the Sony Vaio W Eco Series Netbook offers a great example to manufacturers looking to make their laptops greener.

MSI U135 netbook looks like pretty. It is available in red, ruby,  charcoal, silver, blue colors. It offers 7.5 hours battery availability. It is available in the market at $316.

The MSI Wind U135 is MSI’s first netbook to uses the Intel Pine Trail platfrom, and it comes with an Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz processor, plus a 10 inch LCD display with a resolution of 1024 x 600.

MSI has recently announced the worldwide availability of the MSI Wind U135. Priced at $309.99 upwards, the netbook adopts a 1.66Ghz Intel Atom N450 processor with a 10-inch 1024 x 600 display, an Intel GMA3150 graphics, up to 250GB of hard disk drive, WiFi, and a 3 or 6 Cell battery.

The MSI Wind U135 also features a utility that allows you to choose between several modes including Gaming, Movie, Presentation, Document and Turbo Battery.

MSI introduced world fastest laptop. GT640 is the gaming laptop. It provides windows 7 processing.

The big differences are the fact it’s slightly smaller (it has a 15-inch 1,680×1,050-pixel display instead of a 17-inch one) and it comes with a more modern four-core Intel Core i7-720QM processor. We’re aware this is a fast chip in its own right, but someone should probably tell MSI it sits below the Core i7 820QM and i7-920XM Extreme Edition chips being sold in Alienware laptops as we speak.

So, it’s blatantly not the quickest, but that’s not to say the GT640 is slow. The Core i7-720QM runs at a fairly pedestrian 1.6GHz by default, but its Turbo Mode feature can dynamically ramp up its clock speed to an impressive 2.8GHz when you need extra horsepower.

The GT640 also gets 4GB of DDR3 RAM, though this is of the 533MHz variety, not the faster 667MHz or 800MHz type, plus a sizeable 640GB hard drive, a Blu-ray drive and an Nvidia GeForce GTS 250M.

All in all, it’s an interesting proposition, particularly as it’s selling for a not-too-shabby £1,255.

Wired backup and external hard drives typically deliver data transfer rates ranging from serviceable to speedy. Considering that the ProWX is wireless, we expected a reasonable drop-off in performance compared with its cabled counterparts. But the drop was more akin to a barrel over Niagara Falls.

The ProWX looks nice enough, whether you plan to park the drive on a bookshelf or elsewhere. Its construction consists of a black outer shell with a white front panel, both of plastic. A silver flip-down base allows you to stand the unit on edge, and holes are built into the sides of the drive to improve airflow. The Imation logo is printed across the front panel, but it’s actually invisible until you turn the drive on.

Power the drive on, and the logo and the device’s two front-panel buttons light up in white. One of the buttons powers the drive on and off; the smaller one below it blinks as data is being transferred, and is supposed to launch the backup software when pressed. But after installing the bundled backup app, pressing the button didn’t appear to do anything.

You plug the ProWX into an electrical outlet, then insert the accompanying Wireless USB transmitter (it resembles a large USB flash drive) into whatever desktop of laptop PC you want to use to send data to and from the drive. (The drive isn’t network-connectable; it requires a direct connection between a discrete PC and the drive.) From there, the install process begins automatically.

That’s the easy part; getting the drive to match its advertised performance—and stay consistently connected—is far trickier. The big selling point of a wireless hard drive (or anything wireless, for that matter) is to keep it off your desk and hide it from view, vanquishing clutter and excess wires. However, some severe connectivity issues with the ProWX get in the way. When we attempted to test the ProWX’s wireless chops by placing it in a room apart from the host PC and its accompanying USB transmitter, the transmitter would not recognize the drive. Intervening walls definitely affected the health of the connection. The drive only worked when it was located in the same room as the USB transmitter, or if the drive and the transmitter were separated by an unobstructed line of sight. In our tests, the ProWX’s actual wireless range was significantly shorter than the box’s boasted maximum of 25 feet.

staples is selling a Dell 17-inch system with the Core i5 430M for $649. The Dell system is regularly $799. The $150 discount (which is “instant savings”–not a rebate) ends later this week, according to a sales representative who said prices will go up again at the close of business on Saturday.

Staples is also offering a 14-inch HP DV4-2170 laptop for $649 with the same Core i5 processor, 4GB of memory, a 320GB hard disk drive, and Windows Home Premium 64-bit. Staples lists the system at a regular price of $809.98 with $110 of “instant savings” and a $50 rebate, which brings the price to $649.

Intel’s Core i5 mobile processor, based on the latest “Nehalem” chip architecture, was just rolled out at the beginning of this month. Typically, laptops built around new Intel mainstream mobile processors are priced at least a couple of hundred dollars above the prices Staples is listing.

Core i5 processors feature a new technology, This is called Turbo Boost. For example, a 2.26GHz Intel Core i5-430M processor is automatically overclocked to 2.53GHz.

Onkyo Japan  released the C411 series netbook. Onkyo latest netbook offers very similar to the Acer Aspire 532h. onkyo c411 netbook  allows digital TV tuner and a FM / AM radio.

Pretty interesting release since either option is pretty rare on a netbook. Outside of Dell and Kohjinsha (off the top of my head) I can’t recall anyone offering digital TV tuners on netbooks). Only thing not looking too hot is a 3-cell battery lasting about 3.3 hours.

The Onkyo C411 netbooks look pretty similarly to the Acer Aspire 532h, the two tuners on the netbooks seem unusual compared to what other netbooks have. But the downside is the C411 packs with a 3-cell battery that lasts only 3.3 hours.
