Here strikes the latest update on Google and Asus Android Tablet from the sources familiar with the matter who note that Asus made Google 7-inch Android tablet is going to strike the market as early as May.
The reports from the sources, the 7-inch Android tablet from Asus and Google is expected to challenging low-cost competitors and the iPad with a $199-249 price tag and is also initiated to take on the NOOK Tablet and the Kindle Fire, with Asus selected for its willingness to flex to the Search Giant’s requirements.
According the insiders report, the Search Giant started looking for a Taiwanese partner to construct the tablet at the tail end of 2011, but as it has faced with some uncertain blocks with the usual Android players.
Furthermore, the reports note that HTC has demanded more control on the development of the tablet, and declined to consider a low-cost device for the potential for damage to its brand image. Meanwhile, Acer lacked in-house research & design abilities.
The sources note that Asus has ODM capabilities and good product quality and most probably were more willing to let Google take the Tablet. Asus is c in fact seeing the collaboration with Google as a chance to get deeper into the Android ecosystem and more extensively raise the US tablet market.
Quite fascinatingly, the gossips as well note that the tablet will be the first to use Google Play Store, although the store did start to update to the latest branding on smartphones earlier this week. It’s likely that the Tablet might be the initial one to get Google’s alleged unified gaming platform.
Unfortunately, at the moment the hardware specifications for the Google tablet are unconfirmed, but it is expected to feature a 7-inch screen with 1280 x 800 resolutions, while Operating System might be Ice Cream Sandwich.
