Good news for the fans of Apple, as the Company has finally unveiled its next major release of its Mac OS – Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion that is set to land on the Mac App Store this summer, with a preview currently available for Mac developers.
On Thursday, a developer preview of the forthcoming OS update was released to developers, where in the Cupertino California Company has boasted that Mountain Lion packs over 100 latest features, including many brought from the iPad and iOS mobile OS.
Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Philip Schiller says that the Mac is on a roll, growing quicker than the PC for 23 straight quarters, and with Mountain Lion things get even better. Further he stated that the developer preview of Mountain Lion strikes 7 months after the extraordinarily successful release of Lion and sets a quick pace of development for the world’s most advanced personal computer OS.
According to the official reports from the Company, the new features introduced with Mountain Lion include Messages that replaces iChat, in addition to Notes, Reminders and Game Center for the mac. Furthermore, Mountain Lion will as well feature Share Sheets, Twitter integration, Notification Center, and AirPlay Mirroring.
The new Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion will also be the initial OS X release with iCloud for easy setup and integration with applications. On the other hand, the developer preview includes Gatekeeper that keep users safe from malicious software by giving control over what applications are installed on a Mac.
