YouTube has announced its biggest redesign of its homepage and channel page in history. The main focus is to better personalize video discovery and viewing, with an extraordinary emphasis on social features.
The revamped seems to be part of the Search Giant’s move to introduce a social layer to all its products, with new integrations with social networks like Facebook and Google+, in addition to set in latest algorithmic channel feeds. Moreover, the emphasis on channel subscriptions makes it easy to navigate and watch YouTube as if you were watching TV.
The latest design focuses on channel subscriptions, which are listed in the left-hand column, at the top with Facebook and Google+ feeds, where in you click it will show videos shared by any of your friends or groups. Furthermore, this column features additional ways to filter you’re feed, curated feeds, like Trending channels, and as well allow you pin any precise channel subscriptions to the catalog.
When you click the subscription or filter in the left column, the related videos appears in the center column, with the most recent videos from the feed appearing at first. And at the same time, the right column features recommendations and ads. This outline is same as to what we have seen in both Facebook and Google+.
Quite Interestingly, YouTube has also launched new templates for these homepages together with Creator, Blogger, Network, and Everything templates that allow you customize your page to best present your video content. YouTube will probably be launching more social features that will additionally improve discovery options and probably even tighter integration with Google+.
