Apple App store has started off just couple of years ago and it stands with more than half a million mobile applications.
In 2008 the iTunes App Store was launched and this Tuesday morning it surpasses the 500,000 milestone, this was reported by reliable sources who have been tracking over the App Store closely, and 500,000 means all the applications approved by Apple, though some of them maybe live yet.
At present 400,000 apps are available for download, on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, the company started off with 500 apps on day one to 100,000 about one year later, after which the closest competitor for Apple was Google’s Android app market, which launched eight months after the App Store with about 300,000 apps to date.
The Apple’s App Store is expected to have over 7 terabytes of Applications data, out which 36% of applications are free downloadable and looking at the charged applications which cost on a average of $3.64, Angry Birds stands at number one paid spot which is more than any other App at 275 days total, however it’s not quantity but every need of the user, having various professions, hobbies and special interests.
